Kimberley P. Ver Ploeg, born in Miami Beach, FL, received her Bachelor of Arts from Knox College in 2002 and her Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School in 2013. Prior to law school, she worked for the American Society for Microbiology in Washington, DC for a number of years, handling their certification programs. While in law school, she served as Executive Comments Editor on the Boston College Law Review and worked as a Student Attorney for the Housing Law Clinic and Shelter Legal Services (now called Veteran Legal Services), a non-profit dedicated to helping homeless and low-income veterans with their legal issues. She also interned for the Pro Se Staff Attorneys Office in the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts.
Following graduation, Ms. Ver Ploeg worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the New York State Office of the Attorney General, where she handled Martin Act enforcement (investigating allegations of misrepresentation and fraud in the sale of real estate securities) and Freedom of Information Law matters in the Real Estate Finance Bureau. She now focuses her practice in the areas of insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, representing both individual and corporate policyholders. Ms. Ver Ploeg is admitted to practice before the Bars of Florida, Massachusetts, and New York; the U.S. District Courts of the Middle, Northern, and Southern Districts of Florida; and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
