There is a naysayer in every crowd. When you buy a fancy new car, your first indulgence in a long time, one of your friends or coworkers will point out that the car lost a third of its value the second you drove off the lot. When you buy your first house, that same person, who just happened to purchase a home last year, will not congratulate you. He will kill your excitement by tossing in a “Just wait ’til you have to replace the roof” comment.

Taking care of your health is a critical part of life. This is why the federal government has passed certain laws to protect the health and health care rights of American workers. Unfortunately, not all companies abide by these laws and regulations.

We are at the end of our discussion of an Insurance.com survey regarding some commonly-held beliefs about insurance. We showed in our last post that the respondents were fairly well-informed about the ACA.

We are close to finishing up our discussion of the survey conducted by Insurance.com . The researchers wanted to gauge how many Americans fell for some long-held beliefs about insurance coverage. Men, it turns out, were more susceptible to misinformation than women. Overall, though, the results showed that we are all becoming savvier consumers of insurance.

We may never know the answer to the question posed in the title of this series of posts. Fortunately, we do have research findings from Insure.com that offer us some insight into whether men or women tend to believe some common myths about insurance.

A recent survey shows a very interesting split between men and women when it comes to insurance. The survey, conducted by Insure.com, tested 2,000 adults’ knowledge of insurance without digging into their actual coverage or claims experience. The respondents were asked if 10 statements based on common myths about insurance were true or false. For the most part, men were more gullible than women.

We often talk about lawsuits filed by consumers against their insurance companies. The insurance company has not kept its promise, its contractual obligation to the policyholder, and the policyholder has suffered a loss as a result. Sounds pretty straightforward, doesn’t it?

No one plans to get sick or develop a medical condition, but the reality is that these things happen and, when they do, the costs associated with medical care and treatments are often astronomical. Health insurance exists to help defray costs associated with medical care. For example, if an individual gets sick and needs to go to the doctor, his or her health insurance typically covers a portion of the expenses related to a doctor’s visit or hospital medical tests.

We are discussing a Florida law about parasailing that went into effect on Oct. 1. The law requires a commercial parasailing vessel operator to carry personal injury liability insurance, with limits of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million per year. The Legislature did not stop there in its effort to protect consumers.

Florida has a new insurance law, and this one is designed to protect consumers. Effective Oct. 1, commercial parasailing operators must have personal injury liability insurance. The policy limit may not be below $1 million per occurrence with an annual cap of $2 million.
